Dental Treatments

Our ethos focuses on preventative dentistry, which means that many problems can be detected before they begin. Regular check ups and continuing care by our hygienists are the anchor of a healthy mouth.

We never compromise on the quality of dental materials we use, the standard of our work, cross infection control and cleanliness.

Our policy is to assess your personal needs at your first appointment, alongside a thorough check up we will, where necessary, suggest and explain a treatment plan, having given you your options.

More information on dental treatments can be found on the British Dental Health Foundation website.

Hygiene Appointments

Today, in this country, more teeth are extracted for gum disease than for any other reason. Sometimes patients can need help removing the build-up of plaque in areas that are more difficult to reach with brushing and interdental cleaning done independently at home.

Our hygiene maintenance appointments are about removing and preventing the build-up of disease-causing plaque and tartar/calculus which causes gum disease and dental decay. We focus on educating our patients on dental hygiene and the best way you can look after your teeth and gums by showing you methods and giving you tips on how to keep your mouth as healthy as possible. A cleaner fresher mouth not only helps with confidence for those important events such as a job interview or a wedding, but also helps to avoid costly dental treatment.

We believe prevention is better than cure. Healthy gums mean a healthy mouth.

Orthodontics

At both practices we offer Invisalign, Invisalign can help to straighten crowded teeth without the need for traditional metal braces. The treatment is nearly invisible and is removable. Together with your dentist you can review and agree on your treatment before a series of custom-made aligners is produced. Each aligner is slightly different, moving your teeth gradually into the desired position. Treatment length will vary depending on your case, but the average treatment is twelve to eighteen months.

We also work with Yorkshire Orthodontics who offer traditional braces at our Skipton site.

Preventive Dentistry

We believe the best dentistry is Preventive dentistry, maintaining good oral health with a combination of regular dental check-ups along with developing good habits like brushing and flossing. Taking care of your teeth starts early in childhood and extends throughout the course of your life.

Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening can be an effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooths surfaces. It cannot make a complete colour change, but it may lighten the existing shade. The final colour cannot be predicted and can vary from person to person.

There may be several reasons why you might get your teeth whitened. Everyone is different, and just as our hair and skin colour vary, so do our teeth. Very few people have brilliant white teeth, and our teeth can also become more discoloured as we get older. Teeth can also become stained due to tea, coffee, red wine, and smoking.

Professional whitening is the most common form of tooth whitening. Your dentist will be able to tell you if you are suitable for the treatment and will supervise it if you are.

Implants

Following the loss of one or more natural teeth, dental implants should be considered.

Implants are now considered highly successful and long lasting if carried out with the proper care and expertise.

Cosmetic Dentistry

People are becoming more and more concerned with the way their teeth appear and it is now possible to radically improve the way your teeth look giving you the confident healthy smile you’ve always wanted. We are able to offer a wide range of cosmetic treatments such as Invisalign clear braces, tooth whitening, replacing old metal amalgam fillings with white ones, cosmetic crowns and veneers.

Emergency Care

Should you be in the unfortunate position to have an emergency, we will endeavour to see you the same day, should you not be at home, and you are signed up to one of our Membership plans, worldwide dental cover is included.

This means you can see a dentist to get you out of discomfort and this would be covered on your plan (minus any excess fees).

We also have an emergency on call system, meaning you can be seen 365 days a year if you have a dental emergency.
